Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore and officials from the Rhode Island Board of Elections present a livestreamed media briefing at 10 a.m. on the Rhode Island Board of Elections’ YouTube page. The presentation will include information on how voters can find their early voting location or primary day polling place, as well as how to locate a mail ballot drop box. They will also discuss election preparation and operations, deadlines and resources for voters, how to access turnout information, the results reporting timeline, and post-election processes.

The Democratic National Committee on Saturday approved by voice vote its lineup of six early primaries for the 2028 election cycle, kicking off Jan. 22, 2028, in South Carolina followed by Feb. 1, 2028, in Nevada.

State Democratic officials around the country are raising alarms over how the Trump administration may seek to interfere with or challenge the results of November’s midterms. At stake is not only whether Republicans will maintain their grip on Congress, but also the control of state legislatures. Democratic gains at either the state or national levels could provide a new check on Trump, who has sought to significantly expand executive power in his second term.
