The Senate Committee on Finance meets at around 5 p.m. to hear a bill that would prohibits the operation of any thermal waste conversion facility such as pyrolysis at the Quonset Point Business Park in North Kingstown as well as a joint resolution to establish a special joint legislative commission to study sludge management in Rhode Island.

U.S. District Court Judge Melissa DuBose on Monday criticized Trump administration officials for failing to disclose a murder warrant for a Dominican national she released on bond. Federal attorneys say they were instructed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to withhold the information pending confirmation of the warrant's status. DuBose noted the court is routinely given sensitive information by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with instructions to keep it confidential. “This is not a situation where you are to hold back information,” she said.

Rhode Island’s Office of Child Advocate on Monday asked a federal judge to block a Trump administration subpoena seeking medical records of minors treated for gender dysphoria at Rhode Island Hospital. The U.S. Department of Justice served a subpoena on the hospital in July 2025 asking for “the identities and complete medical histories of every minor patient who received medical care for gender dysphoria at RI Hospital over more than five years,” according to the court filing. A federal judge in Texas last week ordered the hospital to comply.

The on-ramp from Route 10 to Interstate 95 North in Cranston reopened early Monday morning following repairs after part of the structure fell onto the train tracks below late last month, Rhode Island’s Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced.

While intense national attention on the fallout from the recent Supreme Court decision gutting a key provision of the federal Voting Rights Act has focused on Congress, the new ruling also applies to state legislative districts and maps for county or municipal elections. Rhode Island is among 11 states that have introduced state-level voting rights legislation this year.
