The Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General and Family Service of Rhode Island host the annual Victims Grove Ceremony at noon at Memorial Park on South Main Street in Providence. The annual wreath laying ceremony will honor victims of the Brown University and Lynch Arena shootings.

Rhode Island’s Department of Administration mailed 50 corrected W-2s on Tax Day after payroll errors led to excess 403(b) retirement contributions and potential IRS penalties for state college employees.

Twenty months after a ceremonial groundbreaking, Rhode Island’s child welfare agency has selected Family Service of Rhode Island as the operator for a 16-bed residential behavioral treatment center for teen girls on the site of the former Ladd School in Exeter. The first-year contract for what will be known as South County Academy is valued at a little over $9.8 million.

The Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence Domestic notched another victory last week in the lawsuit it is leading to challenge the Trump administration’s efforts to withhold grants from organizations that assist undocumented immigrants or defy the federal government’s agenda on DEI and “gender ideology.”

Roger Williams University President Ioannis N. "Yannis" Miaoulis will retire at the end of the current academic year after seven years leading the school, the university announced Tuesday. The school’s Board of Trustees appointed Brian Williams, chief of staff, as interim president, effective June 1.

President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Federal Reserve, Kevin Warsh, vowed Tuesday the central bank would remain “strictly independent” if he’s confirmed to the top spot, even as the president has broadcast his demand for the new Fed chair to lower interest rates.
